Biker fiendly Hotels in Mid/South Italy and Sicily

For some obscure reason my middle daughter has decided to get married on Malta, July this year, so I intend using most of my holiday entiltilement riding down to and then through Italy and onto Sicily to get the ferry to Malta.
 
I'm pretty well inundated with recomendations (some I've used before) for hotels leading down to the alps and Northen Italy but none going further south.
 
Has anyone done this before and have recommendations?

The furthest we got to last year was just north of Florence, a farm house type place, bikes garaged,in the countryside, little town just down the road.Very nice
