Carb needle spacers
« on: 17 November 2013, 10:54:43 pm »
As some of you the 03 bikes on have the same spacers under all of the needles, but yamaha do not sell the spacers on their own, you have to buy them with the needle, so has anyone on the 02 and earlier done this mod and has it made any difference? My bike has a running issue just over Tickover and it is I believe running weak which would cause my problem.

Ivanising should solve the problem if you havn't already done it, I think it's opening the air bleed holes that sorts that bit.

You can raise the needles to the equivalent of the 3mm spacers used on all carbs from mid-03 onwards by playing around with the 0.5mm shims and the e-clip groove.  It won't affect fuelling at and just above idle, though.  For troubles there, suspect partial obstruction of the pilot jets or maybe a plug/plug cap issue.
