Luggage systems
« on: 17 October 2013, 02:23:30 pm »
Hi there! New to the forum and to biking and after a bit of advice if anyone has a second! Keen to try and start commuting to work on the bike and been told I need to get a system going! Figure the first thing is to get a topbox for my helmet to go in and to carry all my stuff!  Anyone got any good recommendations about where I can get descent sized topbox and where I can get a rack to fit it on etc.

Any help would be massively appreciated!!

I got a Givi bracket kit from wemoto model 340F (covers both box eye and fox eye),  then there is a choice of monolock or monokey type mount plates, these form quite a good rack while the box is off aswell.  The Monokey is their normal range and Monolock is their lighter duty range. I got the Monolock plate (Wemoto) after I found a 46 Ltr top box from ebay.

There was another thread on this and paniers recently, and there is a pic of mine in that

Stuff like this is getting harder to buy for our bikes as they are old now- the arms that hold the rack and boxes are normally used on several different bikes but the model specific fitting kit is the difficult part to find, either here, or eBay for a 2nd hand set is your best bet.
'Kappa' has all the same fittings as 'givi' only cheaper so if you have a choice go for kappa!
