R6 clocks on fzs. has it been done?? how??
« on: 06 November 2011, 12:05:52 pm »
ive seen a pic somewhere on google of a fazer with r6 clocks and i thought i would do the same.
a lot of the colours are the same so ive tried connecting them but cant get it all working.
ive managed to get rev counter working but not right, indicators, full beam and neutral lights but not speedo, fuel or temp

can anyone help?

I cant see the point of this mod, if it purely for looks then surely a Vaypor or similar data-logger type dash would look better. I dont think you will ge it to work correctly as the impulses and signals from the CDI will be complete different.

when i got the bike it was a wana-be stunt bike, day time MOT, no lights only brake light, no clocks, no fairing, engine crash bars and a 12 o'clock bar.62 tooth rear sprocket! im turning it in to a streetfighter and thought it was a nice smart clock from same year, same make and does the same things but i wasnt sure but ive had a quick go but had enough now and waiting for a universal 1,

is there a gallery on here of all the mods n bikes?

Just do what I do with my fighters and fit the cheapest nastiest digi-push bike speedo, most read up to about 60ish (after that you are pretty much speeding anyway)  The R6 clocks would look pretty but I dont think they are gonna work.

anyone know...

where the wire is for the oil light?
how to get my fuel and temp gauges to work as theres only 1 wire for each of them on my clocks or what wires they use on the yamaha clock loom

wraith600 you should know this!

the brown wire in the clocks is a common live used by most of the assorieys in the dash on the fazer and must be connected

 green             for the fuel gauge
green / red    for fuel warning light
green /white   for engine temperature warning light

with out a wiring diagram for the correct r6 ?

as the pickup on the r6 & fazer is diferant getting the r6 speedo to work will not be easy and i cant help there

In theory anything can be done,so long as the original bike does not use the ecu for the info, like Honda did with the later blackbird,a few years a go I fitted a set of gpz900 clocks to my Yamaha xj750 and they work with no issues.you need to check the wiring diagrams on bothe bikes and most wires should be like for like on a Yamaha ,as to the speed sensor if there is an inaccuracy then a speeo healer should fix the problem

thats what i thought but just thought it would be easier to just get a universal one, its only £56 and looks really smart, better than the r6. ive got most of it fitted.
made the bracket out of 3-4mm ali just need to heat it it and put a bend in it, rev counter works but not quite right so need to look into that, dash lights done

just need to...
make a mount for speed sensor
work out how to wire up the fuel gauge
 same with temp
find the wire for oil light

well thats the clocks anyway.              fitting a standard rear sprocket later today, abit scatty with the big one, if you dont sit forward it wheelies n spins if you do  :lol
