Inlet rubber problem...

Hello all, well just got a fazer 600 and the inlet rubbers are cracked, with the far right hand side one cracked fully through sucking in air, does anybody have any good second hand ones they want to sell to me?

Are these what you mean, or carb to engine rubbers?

Sounds like he's talking about carb to inlet ones, they're on eBay for about £70, bite the bullet and buy new, no doubts about wether they'll be ok or not then!

Was gonna say they're a bit cheaper on Ebay.
Why is a bit of rubber so bloody expensive though??

The price of tooling for plastic and rubber parts is massive. A mould for those intake manifolds could easily be half a million

That would work, although it's a bit unsightly to look at.

Not if you do it neatly like--- erm the tape on your old racer bike handle bars or the tape on an old tennis raquet, sor of a slow spiral

I use it daily for minor repairs on cables, any dirt, grit or shit will stick to it like glue, it will look like crap in no time out in the elements!

Had this wrapped around the wing mirror on an old Peugeot 306 to hold it on and it never got caked in any crap

Could give it a try still as it is quite protected there

Is there no kind of sealing solution that can be "painted" on, whether permanent or temporary?

Black silicon, then wrap self amalgamating tape over it then seal it with glue heat shrink.
Job's a good'un.......

Well i've bit the bullett and bought some new ones on ebay, made by tourmax and just as good as yamaha ones, what a b*stard to fit though...
