Yamaha FZS 600 Spocket ratio's

Chaps,

I am looking at changing the ratio on the sprockets.. I have a lot of twisties in East/North Yorkshire that need some major attention!!

Can you guys give me some feed back to whom have changed their sprocket ratio's i.e. 14t on the front etc.

THe Fazer isn't exactly overgeared to start with!

Try riding a gear lower, unless you already regularly accelerate hard in first - i can't do that very well as it just pops up! Downgearing it would also drop your mpg and make first gear pretty pointless, but it would admittedly give you an almost close-ratio gearbox!

hi charlie would be very interested in your findings + results and would also be interested in the roads that need attention ??
as im from leeds and ride regularly  east, west, and north yorkshire,   will happily share routes with you and meet up for a ride whenever.


ive thought of lowering gearing myself but seem to find that holding onto a gear  just a little longer helps  ;) ;)

I changed to 14t and 170 rear tyre -larger diameter, a tad longer gearing-. Faster acceleration, but had to fit a gear indicator as they were so close it could be confusing. The effective top speed remained the same, as I barely could find straights long enough to pass 220km/h with the standard gearing without the risk of being photographed. The mileage seemed to remain the same.

Im thinking 14t on the front.. so I shall report my findings once implemented!!  :lol

Paul - defo up for a fazer blast out... be nice to compare bikes on the road.. and may even learn something from each other!! I have a few routes I love over in North/East Yorkshire.. I work in Brighouse through the week so I may even bring the Beast over for an evening blast in Wessy Land.  :rollin
