cheap cupholder
« on: 22 June 2013, 09:31:43 am »
Hi,

Just did a quick and cheap accessory mod for my topbox.
I went to Halfords or any decent car accessory shop, and bought the cheapest plastic cupholder for £2.99.
I cut the long extended plastic piece off which is for going down beside a car door and window.
I placed the cupholder in the bottom right of my topbox and while holding it with one hand I drilled 4 small holes through the cupholder into the bottom of my topbox, that way the rain cant get in.
I then got two cable ties and pushed them through from the bottom and round the holder and back through my topbox again and sliced off the excess lengths of cable ties.
Here are the pics of what I did.
it is great when you want to hold cans or bottles which have been opened in your topbox in an upright position and stops them rattling about.

Other option is a decent push bike bottle cage, these already have thick mounting points!

I love it bikerboy. I take a coffee into work with me when I start at 0530, and I do so in the car, motorcycle or pushbike (I have a top box on my pushbike too). I usually just use my work bag in my top box to hold it in place, which it does about 80% of the time. However, I think I will copy you on this one and save my sandwhiches getting covered in coffee!!!  :lol

You can put whatever vessel you want in the cupholder, the idea is to keep the drink upright untill you stop for a drink !

Er that statement just doesn't quite work out.   Halford and decent should never be used in the same sentence.

Damn, I don't it now
