If it was factory fitted, surely it can be proved that the bike had an immobiliser?

Have just been told by insurers(Carole Nash) that unless my bike(s) have an approved alarm/immobiliser fitted that I wont be covered for theft. This hasn't been an issue til now so looks like theyre tightening up all round. The annoying thing is that newly acquired bike "Rhondda Red" came with an Acumen system fitted 8 yrs ago by dealer but have decided since I intend keeping this bike to fit a modern Datatool to avoid any potential probs like I had with the thou-in the end had whole system removed as it was preventing the bike from starting normally (10 years seems to be the lifespan of these systems). Wonder what my renewal premium will be this Sept!
There is a difference between factory fitted eg Honda HISS system & on the loan XJ6 Ive got today and aftermarket. If factory fitted surely manufacturer/importer could confirm. If aftermarket like my old Acumen you have to forward copy of installation certificate to insurer. Bit difficult if you got no paperwork from seller! Keep fighting them-theyre getting very uppity lately-bit like the banks! :eek

one of the reasons why I wont reinsure with carol nash, I was insured with then when I had a blackbird I hade to have an immobiliser fitted at my expense before they would cover the bike, yet I did not need one with the pan European I had before.
