Carbon Fibre - repairs to bits where the lacquer has lifted.

I've got carbon fibre fairing infills, and side panels, and the two box type covers on my gen1.   On a couple of the pieces,   around the corners,  there is a slight discoloration where the lacquer has lifted a tad,  leaving small white marks.     How can I repair this.     I heard tell that you can rub it down back to the CF then just pain lacquer over the top.

Question - what should I use to rub it down,  and what type of lacquer - name, where to get it, method of application, should I use for the job.   

Any ideas?

Not much help but I asked a paint shop near me about fixing the laq on mine a while ago. He may just have not wanted to do it as he said 200 quid just to sort the edge out and 1 small bit of laq on the back that was chipped. He launched in to a load of waffel. About how hard it was blah blah

Needless to say I didn't get it done LOL.
Deefer might know about it I know he knows his way around a spray gun

I'm trying not to bother Deefer,  as he's helped with a million and one things over the last couple of years, including rebuilding an engine and flogging my old fazer,  and transferring all the carbon fibre over to the 05 bike I still have.   And keeping that bike until I want it mot'd which he is also kindly going to do.   He deserves a gong for services to mankind.

I'll try asking my Uncles when I get back to Ireland tomorrow,  as they work in car bodywork repair, and resprays.   I wish I had the bits with me (it's only on the two box like jobbies in front of the side panels) to take over.   If they can do it,  I'll post it over to them.

I'll have a scour on the interweb in the meantime.

I see you've a bit of time on your hands as well.   Better than Jeremy Kyle at least eh?

Feather out the edges of the scratches with some 400 wet and dry and then finish with some 800 raking care not to go into the fibre layer, once the edges are feathered you should not be able to feel them and the edge should be as tappered as possible, then key the rest of the surface with some scotchbrite, then de-grease with some panel wipe and re-spray  the whole panel with 2k lacquer............. BUT 2K lacquer is seriously nasty stuff to breath and unless you have a booth or a ventilated dust room room and a mask it not a good idea.

Most body shops will lacquer for you, if you do the prep work yourself you might save yourself some cash as this is what most sprayers charge the most for rather than the spraying.
