Headlight opinion
« on: 24 May 2013, 05:30:01 pm »
Hello!
New guy here!  :)
I bought an accidented FZS and I am in the middle of rebuild process.
I like this headlight:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400442015100?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648

But, can't find any review. Nowhere!
Are the 2x25W bulbs too week for a decent illumination? Anybody?
Thank you!

If you're planning on riding in the dark at any point, 2x25w a bit on the dim side i'd venture.

2x25w = 50 w.
Single headlight motorcycles have 55w. Isn't the same?

Kinda my point really.
Maybe that's why people do the headlight mod on the boxeye? ;)

Even with two bulbs, the headlamps on the boxeye are terrible  :eek   I'd imagine that lamp in the link will be completely useless at night.  Think how much light you get off your brake lights, only not red.

Just had a look at the link, I think as everyone else said, they're gonna be crap at night.
I'm sure there's an in depth thread on here somewhere about how best to improve on the boxeye headlights.

Can anyone find the link?

Here it is; http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,181.0.html

I would also advise to remove the metal cowling inside the left hand light housing. I noticed a dramatic increase in the amount of light now projected on to the road with it removed (mine wasn't secured in properly to start with) and many people have gone through an MOT with no issues.

I have heard good things about the Osram Nightbreaker bulbs but I haven't got round to trying them out as I rarely ride at night

My Fazer looked like this when bought it:

So, no Box eyes, foxy eyes...
It is going to be a naked motorcycle. Black, with red tank and tail and white rims.
I don't like that street fighter mask, so I have to put another.
I really like this square headlight together with some square mirrors. I think I will buy it and see if I can fit a pair of H4 55W inside.

Mine had this lamp on it when I got it.  If I'd have put halogen bulbs in it, it would've melted.

My brother-in-law had one of them on his blade fighter, and yep, it melted!

Stevierst which headlight are you talking about? The one that I was asking about or the one that Lawrence showed me?

Lawrence's transformer style headlight. They look cool as, but not quite the electrical quality you need for big bulbs.

I fitted a headlight from a RD350LC to my boxeye. Much improved light output.
FZS600, Speed Triple 1050, FZS1000, DT175MX etc.

Is there a classic, round light to put up front?

Wonder how that would look like on a Fazer?

Here'e my Fazer with a cafe race twist........

Classic look. I want something else... I really like the Bmw F800GS lights, but they are very expensive.

Yes, that looks lovely (to me at least). When (not if) i crash my fairings, my Fazer will hopefully look like that one (but in nicer, black and red colours! :)   ).  Fairing is very useful, nice, but expensive to get new.
