Brake Caliper Shims
« on: 04 April 2013, 05:04:31 pm »
So er...exactly how important are the rear brake caliper shims (they clip onto the back of the pads), i've been cleaning my rear brake, thought i'd misplaced them then realised the bike never came with any, they're £6.23+vat each so not too bad, but are they actually needed?

You don't need them, they are there to help stop the pad bonding to the piston.

Where from?
I was looking for some recently and couldn't find any.
Mine were falling apart so I left them out when I put new pads in. Doesn't seem to make the slightest difference.
