For reasons i can,t say the only iridium spark plugs i can get at the moment are CR8EHIX9 will these fit and be o k in a 99 plate fzs600

I think the H in CR8EHIX-9 stands for Honda.

So the plug may only fit Hondas as they may have a different pitch of thread.

You got it half-right. The H has nothing to do with Honda. The H is the code for 12.7mm thread reach. See useful plug link below:

Short answer No. They will not fit as there is an unthreaded shoulder on the CR8EHIX9 between the sealing washer and the threads, the CR8EIX do not have the shoulder. See Pictures below
