Temperature & Clutch Lever?
« on: 16 January 2013, 04:50:58 pm »
Is there a temperature gauge somewhere on the FZS 1000 that I just can't see, or is knowing when the bike is warmed up just a bit of a hit and miss affair? Way I'm doing it at the moment is to just pull the clutch lever in and see what the revs are at, trying to keep it at about 1500 for about 5 minutes and then knocking it down?

Also, is there a clutch lever off another bike that will fit the FZS, but be adjustable like the brake lever? It seems abnormally far away, and I find I'm having to pull it with my fingertips, rather than my fingers, which I don't like at all! Don't really want a set of aftermarket levers though at the moment!

No temp gauge, just a red light that comes on if it gets too hot (in the rpm clock I think). Bit of an omission if you ask me, which Yamaha didn't when they were in design-development phase...

for a temperature gauge you need the marvelous "Multi-gauge"

Do a search and you will find out where to buy one from.

Here is a pic of the older model, it has even more functions now.

Engine Temp isn't showing as engine is off, hence 11.2V and big N is the gear indicator  :)

Well got myself a ZX9R clutch lever and perch on the way to sort out the clutch.

Do rather like the idea of getting a multiguage too, read how to wire it up and it doesn't look too bad - just gotta get some pennies saved up now!

Is there anyone on here that fits the multi gauge?

They aren't hard to fit, just need to follow instructions

*TIP* I used one of these just to make life easier

Well the magnifying glass anyway.

As long as your thermostat fan switch is working then the temp gauge will just scare you, in traffic and hot tours it will be hot, very hot,you will just worry yourself about those high numbers.
Some of my bike never had one, forget about it,,do you look at your car one? :eek
