My fazer has been standing for 2 1/2 years apart from new battery and oil and filter, should I just  chuck in some fresh petrol and hope for the best? Or any other tips?

I'd change the petrol as it's been stood 2 1/2 years, chances are the bike wont respond well.

Other than that I'd hit the start button.
*fingers crossed*

drain tank and carbs, also remove plugs and turn engine over a few times, this will empty combustion chambers and also circulate the oil....let us know how you get on  ;)

Did you drain the carbs when you stored it?

If not then they will probably need a strip down and clean as the fuel would of gone off in the bowls.

It really should have a general service, including a rad flush as well.
Was it garaged or not, that can be a major difference as well with things like possibly seized brakes?
