How far away are you?

Based on everyone's opinion of the Fazer (including my own) I can't see myself replacing it with anything else other than another Fazer ;)

No, you really can't go wrong with another Fazer.

I'm in west London, would've been perfect had I not forgotten that removing discs probably involves more than popping them off, shoving them into a bag and riding home! I'm guessing they'd be a bugger to get off the wheel.

Are you okay parting with the whole wheel? I suppose with enough bungees I could secure it on the bike, my discs are really worn and will need replacing soon  :(

I'm not entirely certain as to the procedure for removing the discs but I assumed it would have been a case of unbolting them :s I guess I'll try and get out in the garage when work isn't quite so crazy.

You are move than welcome to the entire wheel however :)

I think it is just a case of unbolting them but I'm not sure if it'll be as easy as it sounds, have heard that they're often very very tough.

Might come and have a look of that's okay - I will send you a pm in a mo.

disc bolts can be a real pain and if you round head/s off then even worse so have a realy good fitting hex socket(cant remember size off top head) a windy gun be best way if not a good wack with impact hammer should do it,also worth try get some heat(i know its already had a load already!) onto bolts,idealy a real small flame this will help with the removal,good luck remove it they have  either gone quite easy or total pig when iv had to do them!

Thanks Mark, that confirms my suspicions...

Recently, one of my spark plugs stripped the threads of the cylinder head and got stuck in there (before snapping) during a routine service. In the end the cylinder head had to be removed and a new thread made.... So, knowing my luck, I'll probably take the whole wheel and get a garage to sort it out!

Seems fairly sensible as the wheel should come off relatively easily compared to the discs. It's a pity the tyre didn't survive a bit more as I'm sure it had a reasonable amount of life left in it - although its still inflated, I'm not sure I'd trust it...

First off sorry to hear about the fire :eek hopefully nobody was hurt, could you give me first shout on the starter gear cover and the clutch casing cover. As I live in Chester postage will have to be arranged would you want me to sort out a courier or such like or could you post at my cost with a bit for yourself for your trouble,cheers Steve

I think the starter gear cover has already gone but the clutch casing is still in place. I'll take a photo tomorrow when there is light to show you that side of the bike as it currently is :)

Hey, very sorry to see that!

Have you still got the bike or have you ditched it now? I am wandering about the top yoke, the casing which houses the ignitions is bust on mine.

Thanks.

@Stedman8
Sorry about yesterday, had a rather bad bug which kept me in bed most of the day - I've sent you a PM with the photo of the bike :)

@brianjonze
Bike is still around and the top yoke is still here as well :) Downside is that after Wednesday I likely won't be around until after Christmas sometime

Right, its come to that time where the bike really does need to go in its entirety now. So last chance to grab any bits before it gets collected by some scrap merchants I expect. I just don't have the time to strip it for the remaining parts and its likely that the garage is going to be torn down and rebuilt within this month leaving no where for it to be stored.

Not a lot different to when I saw it.
Did you get the gearbox fitted in your car OK?

Eventually ended up renting an engine crane and got it all fitted successfully. Car is finally off the driveway and running ^^

And yeah, not a huge amount different. The only real thing is the missing front wheel, but at least the car isn't in the way of the garage door any more.
