to remove or not to remove

Hey up, what are the little tear drop shaped whatchamacallits on the bottom of the front footrests and would it be disastrous if I amputated them - tbh they keep getting stuck in the top of me boots when pushing or pulling me bike and they always seem to get caught when going through tight spaces - any ideas? cheers m'dears. p.s. happy new year to all our readers

Commonly known as hero-blobs I believe.
If the bike is lightly laden or you don't lean the bike over much round corners then you'll never miss 'em.
They should just unscrew.

I think the idea is that they touch the floor durring "enthusiastic" cornering so you know you are about to wear your boot away or something. Also to make a nice spark display in the dark. Can't see any harm in removing them, as said, they just unscrew.

they are there as a guide to say your lent over a decent amount ,if you dont catch them on bends your not leaning enuf! they as already said should just unscrew

The idea is they touch down before an exhaust or something else grounds, digs in and tips you off. Best to keep them on I reckon.

You don't 'need' them, without them you can successfully grind boots, the actual pegs and the exhaust (on right handers at least!). As others say footpegs are spring loaded and give you a 'soft' touch down grinding the exhaust leaves you risk of lifting the bike up mid-corner.

lol - could do. I ended up grinding the pegs so much there was hardly any thread left for them to screw into anyway.

Right then I've made an executive decision and all decisions are final! - unless I change me mind  The left one (which to be honest is the one that gets caught in me boot when pushing bike and the one that gets caught when I'm pushing it out of the gate due to the angle I approach the gate  -  dont ask ) is going and the right one is staying.
