tyres hehe
« on: 31 October 2012, 07:56:13 pm »
Curious little black round things that keep you from falling off , but a couple of months ago i test rode a triumph 1050st and noticed how planted the bike is with the tyres riding 2 up with missus, now the curious thing the other day seen as it getting cold for my black circles i decided to let the tyres down for 1 person riding to warm them up quicker and grippier for one person riding i took my missus for a quick run out but and didnt inflate to 2 up and noticed it felt exactly like the 1050 and less bumping off bumps , do manufacturors settings over inflate there tyres as i felt no squirming of the rubber and had a better ride
33/36 one up
35/42 2 up
im 88kg and missus 65kg

After letting the tyres down for a trackday I had the same thoughts.  I also like the comfort over poor roads in London.

Mind you I don't check my pressures as much as I used to so they could be really low!

As long as your not going over the edges cant see the problem as my bike has bad suspension on the front and no adjustment on a 180kg bike can't see why the tyres have to be pumped up to the pressure of a 1000cc to work proper?

When I first got Avons I had them at 36 - 42 and was about to bin them and get Michelins.
I dropped pressures to handbook recommendation, 33 - 36 from memory and its sound.
