Fitted my Renthal 758s
« on: 29 October 2012, 11:15:16 am »
Finally a dry day yesterday and I had enough time to do a couple of jobs on the bike.
Took off the old original bars and fitted the Renthals, sadly I didn;t get time to take her out for a test ride, but sat on it and shunting around the garden I could feel an improvement. The main difference aside from the lower height is the difference in the amount the bars sweep back in at the ends, the grips are straighter now, feels much better.
Can't wait for a ride to work tomorrow...  :D

I shall get round to doing this sometime.
Did you cut any off the ends, some do some don't?
Any issues with the cable lenghts etc?
Cheers
Steve

OK, I've ridden to work all of 6 miles. Definitely better, but I may still go for some lower clamps, but undecided as I haven't ridden it at all for 2 weeks, so need a morning on it.

I was pretty lucky scoring mine cheap off ebay, pre-cut by 20mm each end and also tapped for the original bar ends.
Used a Stanley knife to trim the switchgear lugs off - and nearly parts of me too!
I might rotate them forwards a bit more too, was a bit unsure where they should end up.
A worthwhile mod, but on their own, not a MASSIVE difference, but probably drops your hands / arms an inch, which is more of a different feel than you'd imagine.

Will update as I get a better feel for it.

i did have 758's fitted now have some allmost flat bars (renthal i think was 658 but might have that wrong)
love the way it puts me at a diff angle. the bike feels more agile (allready has the forks dropped 10mm and the rear jacked plus nitron rear and ktec front so its nice an firm for my size to)

i did like the 758's and kept them at full width for the extra leverage but now i have tried the lower flats i will gladly stay with them.

I have short little arms so don't want to lean anymore forward than I am already but I hate the angle back of the grips, it seems to put pressure on my forearms?
