Yep, they are different bikes and offer different thrills, the FZ1 can't offer it all unfortunately. I'm lucky enough to run both at the moment, FZS for commutting and FZ1 for a blast.
The FZ1 for mental power and the FZS for silly giggles and fun especially when you scream the bollocks off it until an inch of it's life....she loves it!
I will say though that if you've not had the FZ1 for very long then you may not be getting the best out of it. I've done 10k miles on mine now and realise that you can chuck it around and corner pretty severely once you get to grips with what it's all about. A 2000 mile ride across Europe a couple of weeks ago helped with that too
