Need to start my 600 fazer
« on: 27 May 2012, 08:07:45 pm »
Hi chaps,

I've lost my key with the alarm/I mobilizer on and can not start the bike up without it. Does anyone know how I get round starting the bike up? Sorry I forgot to mention I do have a spare key also.

Hijacking another thread I see ;)

But in regards to samberking, knowing which alarm should help, but you may have to disconnect it from the system. This could be simple, or a world of pain...

I've just taken an alarm/immobiliser off a Hornet 600 that was causing the engine to cut out randomly.

Its pretty straight forward to take off and return to the original wiring. Its what I would do if you have no hope of finding the immobiliser key.

It's definitely what I would look in to, some alarm systems are more elaborate than others and it depends on how they have been installed. Had an alarm on my Golf that I literally just unplugged and the car still ran fine. Other alarms and immobilsers end up being soldered in pretty well...

Just take it steady and try to unplug rather than cut things at first and see if you can get the immobilser to disengange. You can worry about sorting it out properly later as long as you can start it now

If it's the OEM immobiliser, it lives in the tail section (I suspect some aftermarket offerings may use the same connector).

If so, simply removing it won't solve the problem... you'll need to get (or bodge) a link plug. This is what it looks like on the earlier version of the FZS600:
