Gen 1 Side Stand
« on: 30 June 2024, 04:44:23 pm »
Has anybody had a problem with the side stand on their Gen 1?  My bike seems to lay over more than it used to. Is there a chance something is worn and could break allowing the bike to fall over. There does not seem to be anything lose. I presume a second hand one could be just as worn?

Funny you should mention that old son. I was thinking the same, just checked and there is obviously some wear in the stand pivot. Quite a bit of side play.  :(

I don't have a Gen 1, but the side stand on my FZ6 once sheared off where the stand connects to the pivot!  :eek

Probably just some wear unless there’s different shock / linkage which will affect things. Might be easier to get a side stand foot, either bolt or weld on job.
