« on: 30 April 2012, 02:10:29 pm »
Will that y piece fit the down pipes on my fzs1000 and then would the twin cans go either side at low enough level to avoid the foot hangers and givi side racks

If I was a betting man I'd say no.

i think your best bet is to contact the seller of the ixil cans and request a couple of pictures of the underside / centre stand area. the r1 cans in the link above are no good, they are the wrong way round!

when time and finds allow i'm planning on buying 2 sets of (scrap?) downpipes and cutting them both parallel to and behind the exup assembly. then cut the two offcuts in unequal halves down the centre either side of the rear mounting lug, then one can be turned 180 degrees and welded to the other then weld the lot back to the downpipes. a custom link pipe would have to be bent for the nearside of the bike and an akrapovic purchased for that side too. (as i have an akrapovic already)

it's a similar plan for the pillion hangers, buy 2 hangers, cut the can mount from the off side hanger and weld it to the near side hanger, finish with paint or powder coat. that way it's a factory looking twin pipe system.

i have already welded bobbin mounts to my swing arm in preparation for the possible loss of my centre stand, although i'm hoping it can be retained...

helpful?

is it clean enough?

Increased weight and unnecessary complexity.  Probably greater restriction in the exhaust outflow.

Do you really want the cobbled-on 2-can look? :)

weight dont give a hoot about am only 14st  :rollin and an extra couple pounds aint gonna make much difference, however performance wise if it makes the bike cough n splutter then idea out the window if it just reduces the top end or acceleration by a few mph who cares ?? it is still fast enough for me  if it loses 10mph lol
petrol hmm would it run richer two cans?? that is a concern with the price of juice now
