Epic trip west coast
« on: 12 April 2012, 07:51:15 am »
well one the things i promised meself whilst lying in that hospital bed 14 months ago was if i ever recovered i would return to the usa
with the kind help of fazerphil who has a bike over there this dream has now come true
flight tickets booked 5th june for me and my son shane to fly to colorado springs the start of our epic west coast trip

its roughly 300 miles a day some bigger millage days some as little as 90 miles the whole trip is fluid, as it is possable in june for the northern route to still be snow bound

i'm scrounging around for stuff to take and we will be traveling light (cash n pants)
the idea is when possable to update this tread from various mcdonalds subways etc free wifi outlets but there maybe long gaps between posts due to desert etc

What a great trip.
Lying in a hospital bed for any length of time does tend to make you reflect on the priorities of life, and you seem to have come up with a very good one  :thumbup .
I'll look forward to seeing further reports of the trip as it progresses.
Good luck.

Looks like an awesome trip.
I hope the snow doesn't prevent you visiting Crater Lake, simply a breathtaking view. It wasn't fully open when I drove there a few years back and that was the second week of July.
I also only spent a day in Yellowstone due to time constraints, really needs a week to appreciate it properly. If you have to dash through, don't miss Grand Prismatic Spring... way more spectacular than Old Faithful even if it just steams rather than throwing hot water about periodically.

Sounds like fun and I wish I was tagging along with you a and Shane again, but I can't miss another of my daughter's birthdays.  :lol

Ride safe. Look out for bears, goats, and re-moulded tyre treads being flung from large trucks.  :eek

That's some outdoor jacuzzi there.

Don't forget Phil's Fazer is programmed to do 800 miles a day minimum. ;)

Enjoy and be safe. :)

You'll have a brilliant time, Luke, I'm sure.  I plan on doing something similar in the future ... but in a 32ft Winnebago. ;)

My youngest daughter wants to do Route66 with me in 2014 on Hardly Abelsomes when she is 21 (I know I know) so will be asking for tips in due course Luke.

I have also decided to do a wish list thing that was delayed by ill health this , so in 3 weeks I,m riding to Monza to watch WSB with my brother in law.
Been planning to do this for a decade but stuff just got in the way  8)

Stay safe buddy
Its just a ride

I man, I envy you!

Unless you have business in Fresno, would you consider from Death Vally, joining 395 North to Mono lake and then going through Yosemite on your way to San Fransisco?
