Interesting read darrsi. Something that springs to mind though is if a lithium-iron battery needs a special charger will it be o.k. on a bike with a charging system designed for a lead-acid battery? Just a thought.

Good point.
They both charge at way over 12 volts so there would be no issues with overcharging, but i'm sure they've taken these things into account already.

look its safer to use lead acid batterys than lithium on a bike..... ive have spent time around lithium batteries and i can tell if the battery goes pop which is more a question of when not if..... the lituim would literal melt you skin off through your bike gear trust me it aint pretty....... oh look my hand dissovled.

the attached photo is from a 1.2amp lithium battery

think about the burns you would get of a 10-20amp lithium battery

dont risk it just get your self a lead battery and replace it when you need to

I was shown some strange info yesterday at work which i found rather astonishing, which was the flight rules for Lithium batteries on Swiss Airlines, and their own rules are that you can carry a maximum FIFTEEN batteries up to 100 watts each PER PERSON but only in hand luggage  :eek

If everyone on one flight had the same idea and something went wrong then as you can only imagine the results would be devestating.
