Back to black?
« on: 08 July 2017, 10:30:21 pm »
Anyone have any tips to get flat black components back to black? My engine and frame have like a milky coating now? Not sure if it's the wax in the soap that I use for washing it but nothing seems to clean it off. Just wondering if anyone could suggest anything that might work?
My valeter said it need an acid wash or something but sounds a bit too drastic?

I'd start with giving her a good T cutting and see what you think.

Cheers I never thought of T-cut 🤔 I looked on Google and everyone seemed to recommend s100 engine brightener. But that looks like it's more for painted engines. I'm not sure what the coating is on the fz1?

Engine Brightener can smarten up the engine a little bit, but if you're ever considering the possibility of using spray paint in the future on anything then you will suffer a world of pain, because that stuff is a nightmare to completely get off, as explained in the first paragraph.
