This storm is passing past me at the moment and will be hitting the south cost of England in the next few hours

I was camping in the garden with my 2 girls.  They pretty much slept though it only stiring towards the end.  It was bright and loud but it never actually came over head, the lowest number of "naughty elephants" I counted between flashes and bangs was 4, luckily we didn't get the big one right overhead or I think I would have been running for the back door before the kids LOL

The storm passed a few miles to the west of us but the lightning was constant. Every second or so for a few hours. The sky was alight. I have never seen so much lightening.

I was tracking this storm on lightningmaps.org and the entire storm at one point reached over 500 strikes a minute  :eek

I'm lucky enough to have a superb view over the sea and watching it roll in was something to behold, not as impressive as a similar storm we had last year but still impressive.  Closets strike was around 2 miles away, saw the streak of lightening in front of the house and it must have gone over the house and hit something that way as the crackle came from the front then an almighty, house shaking, bang from behind us!

Oh I do love a good storm :)
