Hello!
« on: 26 March 2016, 07:14:50 pm »
Hi folks,

My name is Michael, from Glasgow but living in Edinburgh.

Got a CBT and a Chinese 125, but booked my theory for May and will hopefully be doing direct access around then too.

At the minute I'm looking at Fazer 1000 as my first big bike. Any other suggestions welcome.

While I'm here, what's the difference between a Fazer 1000 and FZ1 (if any)?

Cheers!
Michael

welcome,, scotland is class, fzs 1000 gen1 is a comfier more touring styled powerhouse and the fz1 is a bit more aggressive street riding bike both have there uses but im biased towards the gen1 , great do it all bike and a mile muncher, if your buying one get one with a black engine if possible as the silver ones tend to flake paint off !
please god let the sun keep shining

Welcome Michael, I'm from Glasgow as well. I had an fzs600 for a while and then moved up to the fzs1000 as I preferred a bit more torque. Some would caution it's quite a powerful bike for a first big bike, but it will only go as quick as you make it :)

The FZ1 is a slightly more sporty seating position and has a bit more top end oomph, whereas the gen 1 is a bit more torquey low down and more of an upright seating position (which is good for me as I've got a dodgy knee). Aside from that there are obviously styling differences. Just depends what sort of riding you will be doing and what your budget is as to what is a better fit really.
