Headlight mod question
« on: 07 February 2016, 04:06:38 pm »
Hey folks. I'm wanting to strip off the fairing of my 2000 FZ600 and whack on a couple better lights. I have not pulled anything apart yet to take a look, but figured before I do I should ask if anyone else has any advice... How difficult was it too make a bracket? Where did you get the lights? What troubles did you stumble across? Any general or specific advice is welcome.

 Thanks.

P.S. - Guess I should say I'm kinda new on here also. So, Hi.
Im fairly certain I'm mostly ok. Probably.

First of all the mask affixed to the face of your bike looks out of place and ridiculous not to mention gay.

There is a specific light kit from retro lab if you can afford the price tag.

Alternatively you can DIY but it is a bit of a faff and then there is MOT woes.

When I asked whether or not my bike would pass with DIY'd HIDS I was told 'yes if done right'.

Easiest solution to improve the terrible lights is auxiliary lights i.e spotlights IMO.

Personally I haven't bothered with any of the above and just learned to live with the terrible lights and I ride at night a lot with a light smoke visor.

I've had a lot of comments about the mask, but "gay" is a new one. Unless that's what a couple guys in Brighton meant by Fabulous.

Yeah, I've had concerns about the MOT also. I keep meaning to speak to my mechanic buddy but our paths just don't cross that often. Thanks Captain.

Take it all off and see what it looks like underneath, take your time, invest in some high end spotlights for example :

and a decent street fighter mask, get a pro to do the electrics if your not sure..

ohai ashley i see youve taken your splurging off of bcf and bought it here.

you did bother with spotlights but you couldn't wire them up because you're thick as the contents of a slurry pit.

you said you ordered the retrolabs kit? what happened.. couldn't undo the bolts to get to the headlight so gave up? or another lie like the r6 you had when you where 16 but never turned into anything.

dont bring your stupid to this forum.

anyway

op: i did this: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,15666.0.html

however ive changed it since and fitted hid projectors from ebay 2.5" ones.

Thanks folks. I'll be taking the tin opener to her in a couple weeks. Just gotta find some lights I like. I'll post something once I have a slight idea of what I'm doing.
