Fazer 600, The bad headlight has been chanced!
« on: 26 January 2015, 05:06:21 pm »
Hi! I have bought my wonderful Fazer 600 in august, but I was not so happy about the headlight.
So, the project this winter was to remove the original reflectors and mount a Bi-Xenon kit from Retrofit Lab.
I chose the kit with 4.300 Kelvin. (I don’t like the blue light)
Replacing the original reflectors was smooth; thanks to the video form Retrofit Lab.
It was a little bit more difficult to find a good place for the Slim Ballasts, but I managed to find a place under the speedo. After that it was easy to make the rest of the wiring, but when I used the cable restraints to fasten the connectors, one connector broke. But lucky wise, there was a spare connector and now it is working fine.
The wiring is not plug and play, but it is ok.

And WOW, now I got plenty of light on the bike.
Only one problem left. There is no room for the position light!! I have to find a shorter connector.

I hope the pics is ok and do ask questions, if you have any.

I emailed Retrofit Labs a couple of weeks ago and the latest version of the projectors can be used with ordinary H1 bulbs which saves having to find space for the ballasts.  Even without HID bulbs the projectors must still be a great improvement over the standard headlight even with Mods 1 and 2.

I was going to find an led light bar to fit in the stepped bit on the bottom of the fairing to replace the position lamp.

Got last 3 months overtime today so might treat myself

You'll want something like this then?
I just removed side light and crimped connectors to this led light.

I wouldnt be paying that much just for a Bi Xenon conversion, I bought  the H4 kit off Ebay and did it myself it was a matter of cutting the hole to resize the left sided headlight as the bulb size is god knows what i made a new pin to hold the bulb in and it works fine. It cost me about £15.

Nice lights though i like those.

Yes , 15 min at 100 degres celsius.  :D
Many people says that this modification is expensive, but it is one of the best investments i have made.
When i am driving with my mates at night, they might just as well drive without light, because i am lightning up the road and their lights can not be seen.
And i light up ca. 4-5 meters out on every side off the road.
When i drive at day and in sunshine, i have noticed that the cars dont tend to drive out from side roads, when i pass.
