I am new to the Fazer and I have seen lots of models and designations around the bike and I was wondering what is what.
Example
FZ1
FZ1N
FZ1S
FZS1000

Fzs1000 is the gen 1 (to 2005) with carbs and steel frame.
Fz1 is the later one with injection, usd forks etc. The S and N means fairing or not, respectively.

Confusingly the gen 1 Thou was also known as FZ1 in the USA. However the gen 1 and 2 bikes look totally different from each other so not that confusing. Hope that helps.

That's great, thanks.
Is there any different model numbers for faired and fully faired?

I am looking for shiny bits and I want to make sure I get the right model, some sites ask for model and year and I can put 2008 for a FZS1000.

If you have a 2008 faired model then it will be the FZ1-S. It doesn't come fully faired but fairing lowers are available colour matched so that you can make it fully faired.
I could change my opinion, but then we'd both be wrong.
