You can see how to on Youtube but it's not something I would use, I have seen some guys using them when filtering through traffic but I personally don't see the point.
Its just one of those little things that are unique to the pioneer that is a 98 fazer. You couls try fast flicking left and right

To convert the earlier bikes to hazards you just need the left hand switch gear from a later model it plugs into original loom. The later bikes have a solenoid connected to the parking light circuit so you could leave hazards on with key out, if you just swap the switch gear the hazards only work with ignition turned on.
Yeah they are in the black box under the tank. It was a straight swap as far as I can remember
