since this a long term project, why dont you just buy a load of fibreglass matting etc and heavily modify the OEM tail unit into something entirely new and one-off? just an idea which may be cheaper than sourcing an alternative and modifying things to suit (although, much more time consuming).

Because that will take too long!
I want to have the bike ready to ride at Uni in September. I need a fairing on before I can fit the exhausts, and I want to get swingarm and zorsts booked in in the next fortnight.
