O/X ring, dry/wet chain lube

I'm going to be replacing the chain & sprockets on my '99 600, what's my best option with regards the chain type/manufacturer. Also, what's the preferred choice of lube, dry or wet? The previous owner neglected her so badly, I've been getting her back up to spec for the last 6 months, wages permitting.

If you're changing your chain and sprockets spend the extra money to get a scottoiler.
Genuine kits come up on ebay at a decent price and last well,
Otherwise personally I use did X ring (not the super duper strong one- no need)
If you can get an original front sprocket that does smooth things out

I would second that on the scottoiler
If you not get a genuine kit ...I put x-ring D.I.D chain not extra strong type sprocket kit on mine,, gen1 thou with scootoil thingy 20k miles ago and measured chain stretch wear other week and is only 50% worn after 20k miles and a lot of those miles was 2 up with full luggage kit and not taking it too easy on forign roads.
oooh and always a new tab securing washer on the front sprocket.

Or you can save the cost of a snotoiler and just spray a mist of oil your rear tyre yerself

I prefer chain lube, got 2 cans on offer for £10, lasted 3 years/ 12,000+ miles, chain still like new, I clean it with WD 40 every time I wash the bike and relube it.

Thanks for the input so far guys, I'm guessing a few of you aren't fans of scotoilers, I've had a look on fleabay & given the prices, I've got to concentrate on getting my bike back up to spec, every time I get something done, another job rears it's ugly head. It astounds me how poorly maintained this bike was, it's gonna end up like Trigger's brush at this rate.
