Tyre Pressure Gauge me please
« on: 08 April 2014, 07:35:37 pm »
So on the back of my foot pump quest I am now looking for a accurate pressure gauge, I already have an oxford (pic) but I'm not sure on its accuracy and it always takes a couple of goes to get it seated properly to get reading, so im thinking of an analogue one like the Draper here
 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-69924-Pressure-Gauge-Flexible/dp/B0002GV286/ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_i#productDetails
or the Race X professional here
 http://www.amazon.co.uk/RACE-PROFESSIONAL-TYRE-PRESSURE-GAUGE/dp/B000VZ8S26/ref%3Ddp_cp_ob_diy_title_1
but im not sure if the spokes will get in the way with this one. So FOCers what are your thoughts

This is my oxford one

Who's to say whether any gauge is accurate, what is important is that you constantly use the same one to cancel out any variations.
I just use a 5 quid halfrauds jobby.

Not quite sure what to do with my early mid-life crisis. Ideas on a post card to P.O.BOX 150...

I have the draper one youve linked to - works fine for me.

agree with the above though, its not so much about accuracy (I think the draper states on the packet it is only accurate to + or - 3psi which is not that accurate) but about consistency.

So when you get them calibrated do you find that they are out or quite good each time, in my search I have seen the blue point talked about.

They have always been spot on ln the 30 to 40 range. One registered 1lb out at 100 psi the other only goes to 50 psi. Both gauges are analogue l have never had a digital one tested yet.

I use that Oxford one. What I'm now after is a good quality accurate (so I can be consistent!) electronic pump. Any recommendations for that?
