fazer 1000 2003 headlights are on when switch off

Hi can somebody tell me why when the light switch is off the headlights are on but when I take The five spade relay Off everything works as it should cheers

Not wishing to sound rude on your first post (welcome by the way), but do you think it is possible that it is something you have done wrong with the wiring the relay?

I didn't think the Fazer 1000 had a switch for the lights? Not for the pilot / dipped lights at least - mine doesn't... or is this talking about the main beam switch on the left (throttle side)?

If it's the 600 then I'm not sure as if it's a 2003 that makes it a Foxeye which does have some OEM relay's behind the clocks as far as I am aware and I've only worked on the earlier Boxeye models...

mine has a 3 position switch on the right side, off, side and dip.  IIRC the early ones had this (mine is a 2001).

2001-2003 Uk models had switchable lights, 2004-2005 came with always on lights.

@ the Alzie, you havesnt stated year of what country your fazer is.

The way to know if this is the case is to remove the tank and then follow the wires from the s/g to the middle left of the tank. Get your Haynes out and check what the wire colours, because 1 of 2 things will be the case.

1. It was a non-uk model but may still have the connector for the r/h switchgear - whihc means then all you have to do is go buy a r/h s/g with the switch off ebay etc.
2. It was a non-uk model but there is no connector, then you gonna have to do what I did (mine was a converted USA model) and take to a bike shop so they can do a clean bypass into the headlight relay.
