Battery charger/optimizer
« on: 19 March 2014, 05:08:28 pm »
Hi all,

Looking for a recommendation for an optimizer/charger for my 99 fazer. I want it mostly to trickle charge the battery, but should also be able to charge a drained battery if needed.

Budget is 40-45 quid max.

A mate suggested the Optimate 4 Dual Program device. It's going for 37 quid on eBay.

Thanks

I use the Optimate 4 dual jobby, does what it says on the can.

You only need the dual one if your bike has a CanBus on it, the Fazer doesn't but my Beemer did.

+1 for the opti. I have one on my Fazer all the time. It has also rescued a car battery and another bike battery, which means it has paid for itself now (although neither of those were mine  :rolleyes )

Also, LIDL do one from time to time. I got it for £12.99 (I think) and it does the same thing without the digital screen. And its lasted for 5 or so years.
Not quite sure what to do with my early mid-life crisis. Ideas on a post card to P.O.BOX 150...

+1 for the Lidl one.  Works perfectly and will even charge sealed lead acid batteries.  Worth having a look to see if they've got any at the moment.
