Removing snapped exhaust studs

Now, I haven't snapped one... yet. But im looking at changing the down pipes to stainless. The studs on there don't look too pretty at the moment, so just in case, if I snap a stud whats the best way of removal?

Not had to deal with it myself, but why not give yourself a head start and start using regular penetrating spray on them now, you may be thankful for it later.

Mine are pretty rusty and don't even want to attempt a spanner, I've got a Dremel with a flex cable so better safe than sorry.

Buy a stud extractor, it helps!

But youll still need to soak em WD-40 first.

You can get a really decent grip on the stud that way and its exactly what I used when mine snapped. If they snap flush with the head then its either attempt to drill them out and retap yourself, or engine out and to a machine shop (the latter is what I did and was charged £40 for two studs)

I'd warm them up with a blow torch first, the hotter you get 'em the better.

Start spraying them now with plus gas, also when you do take them out it will be the middle two most likely to snap so make sure you get on it flush with a decent socket, let the engine get RED HOT first, then heat the stud with a blow torch until it glows orange. Don't cut corners give yourself the best chance of removing it, you don't want to snap one as it's grief, if you do snap one,
