Bike wont start!

Went to start my bike today and it won't start. I can hear the starter motor spinning but it was not engaging....any ideas what might be wrong..

Was the engine turning though?

No...the engine was not turning...

Uhmm, starter spinning but motor not turning over, most likely the starter clutch (one way assembly),
not heard of them giving trouble, but more familiar with the FZS

Could try rocking the bike backwards in 2nd or 3rd (ignition off), take it over at least one compression, so you know the engine has moved, but to be honest not very hopeful, but you never know might just move it.

It was used couple of weeks ago and there were no signs of any problems. Tried rocking it and it didn't do the trick. Yamaha are picking it up tomorrow and sort it out. They think it is the clutch

Looking at the price of the parts I think it's going cost a bit! But then the bike has nearly 40000 miles on 07 plate...

Yamaha are picking it up tomorrow and sort it out.

but as I said have not heard of these bits giving trouble, don't see mileage as being too bad or relevant, lot younger than all the FZS's,
and similar components used,
will be interested to know the outcome

Got rid of the bike....got myself a new Fazer 8 ABS....
