So how come they never say "oh I bet you are having a fantastic time out on your bike aren't you"

I have no idea why people say shite like "you must be cold/hot...". I mean, I didn't just arrive from outer space, its the same focking temperature for me as it is for you! I guess its unnecessary small talk for strangers.


As a wee footnote, I am an organ donor because a Surgeon told me (the day after assisting in a 13 hour emergency surgery) that for me not to be is a waste of perfectly good organs (apart from the one they just cut out and put in the bin  ).

IMO *everyone* who is not excluded for medial reasons should sign the Organ Donor Register.

(However, just for clarity, I'll point out that I do NOT support a compulsory opt-in system. It's my gift, not something which the State can or should be able to require of me!)

some people dont get to donate them like they would want anyway. my old man died of cancer, having cancer (wether you die of it, or it goes into remission) automatically excludes you from donating any organs (even if its not in the relevant organ. i.e. if you have bowel cancer you cant even donate your eyes).

Its fair enough in a way, but still sad for people who wanted to give that gift to someone.

Dont agree it should be mandatory though - and I think some religions are anti-donation?

Ok, so if it's medical or religious then fair enough. But I do think you should have to 'opt out' with a reasonable excuse rather than expressing your interest onto the register by carrying a card. That in itself would save even more lives, and I'm all for saving lives.

Someone in the future has the idea that harvesting organs from dead criminals is a good way to save more lives. Great, but there are still too many people needing too few available organs, so then they go from the Death Penalty for Murder in the First Degree to murder in the second degree, kidnapping, manslaughter... until the demand for organs means you can get the death penalty for false advertising or too many speeding tickets.
