The latter link sounds like a DID. Don't know what the first one is. Different grades of chain may have different thicknesses of side plate, also the same grade from different manufacturers may exhibit this. You need to know what grade and make of chain you've got on there to get the right link.

From what you say I read that you bought the chain and link separately is that correct?

Paul, take your chain into the dealer's when you go - he may have something in a drawer somewhere he can match to it.

Mate off the top off my head DID dont do just a 50VX chain they do a 50(530)VX!

They do 520, 525 or 530 you want 530VX or heavy duty 530ZVM-X, there are loads and I mean loads of cheap crap Chinese copies that some stealers and ebay sellers are passing off for genuine DID/RK/IZUMI etc.  Make sure what you bought both chain and link are genuine, personally I only buy from official dealers of DID you can find your nearest by giving Maxxis a call.

I seem to remember 50 = 530?
V/VM (etc) is the grade.
X refers to the o-ring type (an X in cross section - designed to hold more lube for greater longevity).

(referring to DID).

530ZVM link will not fit a 50VX chain.

I was in the exact same position as you earlier this year Red.  Bought a 530ZVM chain off ebay, but it didn't come with a soft-link.  Went to the local Yam dealer who gave me the current ZVM-X link (marked as 50VX ZJ), which was too big.

Went back to the dealer with old and new chains and links.  They dug around in the spares box and found 2 that did fit, both old stock.  They were labelled as ZVM and ZVM2.

I believe that one of these will do you:

Just a minute, looks to me like Paul's chain is not DID. Therefore, any DID link may not fit. Take the chain along Paul, then they can try to physically match one from what they've got.

He ain't a magician - different dealers stock different makes of chain, and who knows what brand yours is? If you want to order one as a genuine Yam part go ahead - but make sure someone there has the smelling salts handy when they tell you the price!
