FZ1S Alternator Problems
« on: 12 February 2014, 03:40:04 pm »
2008 FZ1S 45000 miles used daily, cared for and serviced regularly.
Magnet on roter has detached whilst riding resulting in irrepairable damage to the roter/stator and regulator.
At least £1200  for replacement parts !!!
I'm told this is 'unusual' !!!
Has anyone out there suffered similar ???
Has anyone out there got a spare alternator they want to part with ???
Phil

As far as I know it is the same rotor as the 2004 to 2008 R1s and there are a few horror stories with regards their rotor magnets detaching. Have not heard of it on the Gen 2
Maybe an email to Yamaha UK might be in order.   :)
