FZS600 Fazer / Re: Brakes yet again
« on: 18 September 2012, 08:42:08 am »
Tbh I don't know. I still have the standard setup but am now looking to fit braided. I would think that 2 lines will be easier to bleed and possibly give a more balanced application of brake pressure. Only my thoughts tho

Go for a horse jockey skull cap!!!!!! So much harder and actually look pretty mean rather than pretty boy. :-)

I treat everyone else on the road as a blind unpredictable y'at!!! All rules  are out of the window! I ride to survive !!and that includes reacting quickly to situations! If I have miss read the road or a twat, then I feel it's my bad for  not bein more defensive. Yes I can ride like a loon, but when the conditions allow.
Peace!

Make sure it's not a sticky caliper causing ya brake fluid to boil , I had very similar symptoms  except brake seemed ok for first couple of miles then just disappeared.

No need to remove the wheel. I didn't use the screws on mine I used silicone sealant . Just rub down the extends and the inside of the mud guard with very course sandpaper apply the sealant all over and clamp together for  24 hours. Mine is still rock solid after a year of every day riding.

I'm with crh on this . I have followed this thread and amazed at your dedication to the prob but when you have eliminated  everything possible whatever is left no matter how improbable is the answer! Get rid of that tiny niggle in the back of your mind and sort the airfilter !!!!!!!
seriously think you have dug too deep on this one.
Good luck mate. Never quit tho!!!

I regularly get 220 miles till the light comes on, then I fill it up
I do 17 miles each way comute. 20/80 split town and A roads. And although don't redline the whole journey  I def  get to work witha smile on my face!!!!!

I had the same problem !!!!!
I ended up removing the collar until I had to change oil and filter?
12 month down the line and  I have still not fitted the collar? Is this pushing my luck???

try taking it back to the basics, if Ade got his sorted by larger jets (due to K&N filter and poss non stock exhaust) and the fact that Sam has had NEW carbs (which would have standard jets) have either Red or Sam got any form of mod to air filter, air box or can??
it sounds like you both have stutters at higher revs trying for max torque which really sounds like they are leaning out (too much air rather than too little fuel)
only my thoughts, good luck guys

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Suspension settings, anyone had a fiddle?
« on: 28 May 2012, 12:22:25 pm »
I put my rear up 2 clicks cos im nearer 95kg plus take pillion on weekends, i found clicking the rear up really did improve things.

I had began to worry alittle bit about the front tho, it was feeling a little twitchy and not very confidence inspiring, but then i noticed that my front had been wound all the way to 3 lines showing!!! much too hard for me, I set it back to 5 lines showing as per standard and am now liking that alot  :D
so mine is +2 on the rear and standard front, my bridgestones are at 36/42 as per bridgestone recommendation and i have no probs at all

I had to visit a subcontractors place of work this morning, and parked up next to a very original  98 red fazer and also a 99 thunderace (i know not a fazer) but it almost looked like a yamaha meet with my 02 beside them  :)

General / Re: Helmet hair!!
« on: 22 May 2012, 11:42:01 am »
I use a neck buff that i pull up over the head at the back and down to mouth at front.
keeps wind and bugs out of your neck/jacket and helps keep your lid liner clean and less helm hair.
In winter i sometimes swap that to a silk balaclava.
yep i do the same, i also have short #2 cut and also find when getting to work that its usually the back of my head and the crown bit at the top that has gone mental, my hair grows straight outwards like a white mans afro so has to be kept short coss it is impossible to comb or style :o
but a neckie pulled over the top sorts it for me (well for my 20min ride to work anyway) on a day out its just screwed regardless :\

Don't listen to them about i-tunes, I download songs using a website to convert videos and then copy it across to my phone,
you can also copy in your own cd's.

And i-phone 5 is meant to come out in July...

the real problem with itunes is not actually within its own functionality, its what it does to your PC/ laptop. itunes takes control of all your media files not only in storage but also playback and makes even the best machines run like dogs!!!
i have had to repair more computer issues caused by itunes trying to run windows than anything else!

as for iphone 5...........well that is just an excuse to rip off more devoted/deluded apple heads, the overall functionality will still be less than the latest  androids especially the S3  :D

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Battery voltage question
« on: 21 May 2012, 01:22:38 pm »
12.63V is a good fully charged voltage,
the 13.65V you measured would only be for a few mins after removing the charger and would rapidly decay to the nominal 12.6 ish.
I would say ya battery is absolutly fine.

I currently have the box biohazard (not to flashy due to colours)
for me i find it a great helmet with integral sunvisor and option to fit pinlock, just found it here at a cracking price!!!
http://www.ghostbikes.com/products/1490-box-bz-1-biohazard-motorcycle-helmet.html

to be honest i bought it because it was the best fit for me, after trying on about a dozen different manufactures and styles.
IMHO a helmet can only do its job with a perfect fit, anything else just defies the point.
good luck in ya shopping

FZS600 Fazer / Re: ok....let`s try another angle !
« on: 19 May 2012, 12:11:15 pm »
ok, just checked what my fuel pump does;
at idle = 1 pulse every 5 secs (depending on how you timed it it could be considered 2 pulses in 5-6 sec duration)?
at 5K = 6 pulses (counted 3 times, counted 7 pulses twice)

not sure if that's gonna help with the comparisons you are trying to do?

good luck mate

happy to be of service,
i was well impressed of the pics of ya misses bike! i was shocked when you said it was sold.
glad you got it back......... its in the arms of someone that appreciates it ;)

Haha I do not know, I'd like to test a full standard one, maybe I have just ruined it :lol .

Really I do not know I just chase faster bikes like everybody does, it is more related to rider's capability (and craziness  :lol ).

a colleague of mine has an R6 and is an adrenalin/sports junkie!!! only been riding 2.5 years (first bike was his R6) race exhaust, power commander and dyno tuned.
he is insane and rides day to day as i never would :\
however around the B and small A roads, in our little somerset he cannot out do me on my FZS600??? his torque is too high up the rev range for him to keep it on the limit?
on long straights he leaves me for dust.
is it the fazers great range??? or just difference in style?? who knows?

Is your bike a parallell import? Certain bikes supplied for one of the Scandinavian countries, Norway I think, didn`t have the Fazer logo the fairing as this was the name of a well known chocolate bar.
As for getting the logo`s I had to get a dealer to order mine from Japan and they aint cheap. About £50 for the pair  :eek and that was a few years back.

yeah i was hoping to avoid stealer prices :o

uhm import? good question? how can i find out? as far as i know, and as i was sold it its one of the very first foxeye models, its a long story but apparently it is one of the ones yamaha used in the marketing brochures, posters, and promotion for the foxeye?
