FZ6 / Fazer / Re: fuel system sorted.
« on: 07 September 2019, 10:54:24 am »
So i took the Fazer for a 25 miles run. A & B roads and a Duel.
The wife said the problem happend when she has been keeping a steady speed.
So i found local roads where i could keep the revs steady. 2k, 4k and 6k and a blast upto 8k for a miles.
The bike ran spot on, not a single hic-cup. Even pulling the clutch in from 6k the revs did not hang and they went down to 1200 as they should.
Rolling off the throttle and using engine braking the bike was fine. Pulling from 2k in 6th no problem.
stopping fast from speed, all ok.
So at the moment the bike is running good. Lets now see if the wife can break it again lol.
I will take it for another ride myself in a couple of week time to see if it still rides the same.
One thing i would like to ask. Is the throttle of these fazer 6 heavy as normal. It's not the cables or twist grip sticking. I've not been on anothe fazer 6 so i don't know if it's normal or not. it feels like the return spring on the side of the throttle bodys is to strong. My 2 zx9r have carbs, and the throttle is very light on them both.

FZ6 / Fazer / fuel system sorted.
« on: 06 September 2019, 07:36:44 pm »
So Joy has been having some problems with the fazer 6.
It kept stalling at lights or low revs. The rev would also hang for a second or to.
And when she got it going afterwards there was black smoke out of the exhaust.
So 2 weeks ago i bought a secondhand fuel system to swap over.
This afternoon i had time to take it all apart and see what was wrong.
As soon as i removed the fuel system i could see the problem.
Injector 2,3 & 4 were leaking as they were wet and Number 1 was bone dry.
The bike was in a very poor way when we going it and standing for some years.
I also pulled the plugs and they were black but not with soot. So i bought new plugs.
So i got the plugs and fuel system fitted and the bike started first time which was a good thing.
I got it up to temp and revved up the engine. there was no hanging of revs and it idle around 1200rpm.
So i just need to put the rest of it back together in the morning and take it for a test ride.
Will let you know if i have to call the AA or not lmao.

I am looking for ways to help my wife with her bike. I have got it all sorted for her apart from the weight. It is a very top heavy bike, and i am looking for a aftermarket exhaust to fit on it.
But before i buy one can anyone tell me if it help make the bike feel lighter changing the exhaust. Also any thoughts on what else i could do to remove top end weight from the bike.

It was the connector on the neutral switch at the back of the engine. I moved it about and now the neutral light does not come on when the clutch is pulled in.  many thanks for the help.

Big day tomorrow. MOT book in for 12.30pm  first MOT since the rebuild.  wanted to get this problem fixed before i had it done.

FZ6 / Fazer / Neutral light "problem fixed"
« on: 11 March 2019, 08:42:28 am »
Ok, I have not long ago rebuilt the wife Fazer 6. Now i did not know it was a fault until i did some reading online.
The problem is when the bike is in gear and the clutch is pulled in, the neutral light comes on.
Now i have replaced the clutch lever switch, side stand switch and tried another second hand relay.
So even after doing this the neutral light still comes on when the clutch lever is pulled.
The bike has not got wet and has not been on the road yet.
Any help please would be great as sorting this problem out will keep the wife happy.

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: Head light Covers
« on: 09 March 2019, 01:07:24 pm »
Thank you for your reply. I have now bought some clear ones that i'm going to paint with a light misting of purple.  I can paint the insides of them. I have a clear plastic primer so the paint stays on the plastic and can be seen from the outside.

General / It's finished
« on: 25 December 2018, 01:41:48 pm »
I have just spent the last 3 months rebuilding a 2004 Fazer 6 that i bought in 2016.  It was in a very bad way and most of the parts were shot.  It's had a total rebuild, with every bearing, Seal and gasket replaced.  Rust was really bad and every part was sand blasted, even the nuts and bolts.  Every alloy part looked like it had been under water for years.  It has cost me way more than the bike is worth, but it's for the wife.  The wife wanted it all painted Purple, but i said it would look crap.  I said to her that less is more and Black and Purple would look better.  Now it is finished, the wife said i was right for once.  So now i have a happy wife for 5 mins lol

General / Wife having the Fazer 8
« on: 09 June 2014, 03:47:20 pm »

So the wife is having the Fazer 8 and i'm getting a bigger big again. The fazer is now 30mm lower on the rear and 15mm lower on the front. just waiting to pick the seat up on friday after having some taken out of it. It was funny the other day as the wife scared herself silly. She has a XJ6F and thought that the Fazer 8 would only have a little bit more power. I told her to try it up the drive way ( 30 meter). First of all she started it up and put it in to 1st gear right away. I shouted at her to take it out of gear ( i was opening the gates at the time). I said let it warm up a bit so the rev's drop to normal. She did not look happy about this ( like i was treating her like a child)  Well once the rev's dropped i told her to now try the bike and to take it very easy. so she put it in to gear. and went to pull away like she was on the xj6. She did 30m at warp factor 7 up the drive way lol. she said it is a lot faster than her old bike in that i've just scared myself silly voice :lol . She then rode it back down to the garage on tic over.  Once we have the seat back she will take it out for a proper run.

It's a shame that you have to kill them as they have a big role in life. But i understand where you are coming from as that sort of sound will drive you nuts when you are trying to sleep.  Please be careful in what you are using as you will need to clean up the remains once they are all gone.  be careful of the powder getting into the air in your home as i don't think you will be to well breathing it in.

best of luck and i wish you and your wife a good night sleep.
