Mine.

Silver AND black with red braided hoses and Scorpion cans, therefore, the fastest.

Shut the front door and close all the windows.

Hi, yes.

Turns out that it was the regulator/rectifier.

I had bought a new one as that what what I suspected needed replacing, but the new one I bought was also defective!!!! Not happy.

All sorted now.

Cheers for the advice!!

Hey unfazed,

Thanks for the reply.

I 'thought' my stator was causing my charging issue, but I have examined it & done tests with my multi-meter. It appears to be fine. No shorts or anything.

Was going to search for a 2nd hand replacement, but no need now.

They are bloody tricky find though!!!

Thanks Guys.

I bought a multi-meter and checked my voltage at the battery terminals. All seems fine to me, but then I am no expert.

I have someone who is going to look at it for me this week.

Fingers crossed! Need to get out on it before the sunshine disappears!!!

FZ6 / Fazer / Stator/Generator compatibilty questions....
« on: 04 August 2015, 11:53:53 am »
Hi,

I have scoured the internet for answers to this question, but there is very little out there on the FZ6 stator.

I know that the model of my 2004 stator is 5VX-814-00-00, but these appear to be VERY difficult to come by whether original stock, used, or aftermarket.

Any one know if the stator from later FZ6 models will fit my 2004 model? I.e. will an S2 stator fit my model?

OR..

Anyone know of any stators from other bikes that will fit and work properly on my FZ6? (I have read that the R6 stator is not compatible, as the bolt holes are in the wrong place, and it delivers different power levels).

Any help or advice is gratefully received.

Thanks Fazerider.

May have to go get myself a multimeter then. :/

I'll give it a try.

Hi all,

Was hoping that one of you experts could give me a some help/advice...?

I am having trouble with my charging system. The LCD displays is showing error code '46', which as I understand means that there is an error with the charging system.

As I am not the best person when it come to electrical knowledge, I bypassed the multimeter method of checking voltages, etc, and I bought myself a new battery mainly because I had left it on charge for a lengthy period and I thought I'd ruined the last one. I placed the new battery in the bike and got the same issue.

Following this, I bought a new regulator/rectifier. Tried that - same issue.

So then I thought that my stator/generator may have gone. So I removed that, but tbh it looks fine. There are scorched areas, and no areas that look particularly burned.

I am now wondering if I should get another stator/generator, or if the issue is something else. It can't really be anything else, can it? The system is pretty simple in terms of components. Perhaps a wiring issue? I am wondering whether I should put it all back together again and give it a try again. But I don't want to end up miles from home with the engine unable to start (again).

I have attached pics of the stator in it's current state. I have shown both sides. See what you think...

Also, does anyone know where I can get an FZ6 stator for a 53 plate (2004) FZ6? The internet is having trouble finding them. Are there any that are cross compatible with other bikes, that are easily obtainable?

Please help!

Stator pics attached.

Yeah, it is my first bike. You could say that I am new to it and that almost any bike would please me in my early days of riding, but I really like it and at the moment there's enough oomph in it to tantalise.

So it's all good.  :rollin

With. But it needs some sort of black flash on it to continue the downward decal lines from the rear, parallel to the front fairing lines.

Nice looking bike.

I have a belly pan on mine and I think it looks mint (though, not the same bike).  :D

Hi Chaz,

The wheels have been powder coated in silver. Nice and new-looking. Makes a real difference. This one's done 30'000, but you wouldn't know it!

Anyone know why this model seems to be the least popular?

Thanks noggy.

Re the lack of unmodified FZ6's, I have seen that many either. When I went to see this one, it was pretty mint and I was well happy with it!!

Understated mods is what I like. Love the red braided hoses, they set it off nicely. Twin Scorpions are pretty neat too. She also has the much needed belly pan (needed on this bike, I think) and heated grips. And, as I am a riding noob the crash bobbins on the front forks and frame are a decent addition too.

Thanks for your tuppence worth.  :D
