Have to say, strongly leaning towards MT07 /09

Before I bought the Street Triple, I tested loads of bikes, (including the Fazer 8) and none came close to my trusty FZS600

But my old bike suffered bad in the cold and was due a load of work.

The Triple was the only bike that actually excited me, but funny enough, when I owned it, I missed the practicality of my Fazer,
and I don't ride like a speed demon, (well not most of the time anyway) and have no wish to add points, so a more sedate ride is alright by me

The bike I was looking at is from 2012, wants £3500, & does look in good nick.
What do you reckon?

I am also wondering about the MT07, add a box and a screen, could work for me.
It's popular so when it comes to selling, could be a safer bet than an older higher miled discontinued Fazer 8???

Any thoughts?

Fazer8 / FZ8 / Coming back to the fold...possibly
« on: 24 February 2016, 11:01:52 pm »
Yes, I left the World of Fazers after a happy marriage of 11+ yrs on a FZS600, and bought a Street Triple, Gen 2.
Was a good bike but a) would have liked more practicability, & b) some dirty toerags decided to alleviate me from the pain of ownership...thieving shites

So here I am, wondering do I buy a Fazer 8.
Last time I rode one, this was my opinion, 'not very exciting, fine, nothing more, nothing less'
I do need to have another ride, but am I totally wrong?
I kinda hope so as was so happy with my old 600.
I'm going to have another test ride, and am keeping my fingers crossed that my previous critique was unduly harsh.

I've also seen one that price is pretty good, but its high miles, 28,000, looks quite well looked after, but that is pretty high.
Anyone have any advice?

Secondly, I was thinking about the MT07, I have also previously ridden one of those, thought its a great price, but didn't wow me, & thought at the time it would be a great beginner bike.
See it's won a few awards, so maybe try and have another ride on that as well

Then there's the Tiger 800...choices choices

So, no Fazer 800 owners then
is that indicative of the number of owners.... :rollin Just joking people.

Slanimar, I take your point, and I am finding that out.

Bar the Street Triple, every bike I've ridden feels worse than mine.
I thought it may be 'comfy old slipper' syndrome, but I don't think is.
Is the Fazer FZS that good a bike???
I've had mine now for 11 years, have ridden other bikes, not for long periods though, but Fazer has been my No. 1 choice.

I'm just interested to know what the FZ versions are like, and why peeps chose them over x

It is a personal thing, but obviously there are aspects we can all agree on, even if it does or doesn't bother you.

I'm hoping to have another Fazer8 ride on Mon/Tue to see if I feel any diff about it.
Likewise want to try a FZS1000, and a FZ1

I am a bit sad in being one of those folks who like the latest, but only when the latest is actually better
(I think I've proved that point with 11 yrs of ownership)

I recommend you fix the old 600 and spend the rest of the money on fuel, beer and easy women

Cosmetically my bike is a bit rough, (not too bad), depending on these rides, I might just take your advice and balance carbs / do the necessary repairs, and enjoy another 11 yrs
and those 'easy women' don't pay for themselves!!

Can I just ask, why did people choose a Fazer8 / FZ8 over either a Fazer 600 or 1000

I'll assume that you wouldn't have been interested in the Carb version of both, but interested to hear reasons.

Also anyone who chose over make/model bike

I've also been looking @ Street Triples, (really did like) BMW F800R, & Honda CBR600F
Am also looking @ var. others but haven't yet ridden.

I have a FZS600, and am looking to change, but love my bike, but it needs money spending on it, and it doesn't get on with cold cold days, (I know how it feels!)
If I spend the money, I won't get it back, and I'd quite like something newer and safer (ABS) and non carbs.

I wish it was a simple as;

600 Good
800 Better
1000 Even Better

This is the issue, I haven't decided.

I keep going back and forth

Each reply so far is valid, but I still don't know which road to take.

I do however agree with this statement,
Quote
' Brutal honesty - it's an average bike, if you're only using it on our roads then it's a cheap bit of fun (fuel, insurance, tax) and can be justified to keep to use occasionally!'

Many thanks for the offer of the Gen 1 try out, unfortunately am working all W/End, damn. Had a ride of a naked Gen 2, back in 07, if memory serves, engine was q good, but as much as I like Naked bikes, I think fairings are more practical for me. I should really organise another ride on one. Would you say Gen 1 over Gen 2?

The new 600, post 07, could be a strong contender if it's v like mine, but better, again, hope to ride one poss Friday or following week.

Keeping mine, it does make sense, I like it, so it would appear a no brainer, but the saying if it ain't broke...unfortunately it kind of is.
Needs new bars, new Throttle Position Sensor, Exhaust is leaking, front forks are in poor shape, fairings cracked & further cosmetic damage, apart from that, she's peachy  :D

I've been looking at prices, I'm comfortable with spending £2k, less comfortable at £3k, but would get me FZS S2 600, and really don't want to be @ £4k, but if did could buy FZ1 or Fazer8.

I was staying away from Gen 1 1000 due to Carb Icing (hence Fuel Injection choices) ...is that an issue on the 1000?

FZS600 Fazer / To Upgrade or not to Upgrade, that is the ....question
« on: 05 February 2014, 11:04:25 pm »
1st Post, well, actually, used to be a member here, many moons ago, and looks like my account got deleted.
So, I have a big dilemna. Do I get rid of my beloved Fazer Foxeye, or keep for a wee while longer.
I do love my bike, but last looked at changing it back in 07, (was a bit bored, fancied a change) tried quite a few bikes, Hornet, couple of BMWs, Speed Triple, the only bike that i was tempted by was the Street Triple. Anyway, decide that I'd keep mine for a bit longer, + economy went tits up, as did my finances.
Now, 2014, my bike is pretty foc-u'd, (thank you to the tw@ts who knocked it over) and needs money spending on, which I won't get back.
Bike suffers in the v cold, runs quite ruff, bit dangerous, and I'm thinking, move on, while I can still get a few quid P/Ex
Only thing is, apart from the Street Triple, nothing has yet made me think it's better than what I have, and what i have is quite ragged looking, but i think still rides well, (bar the v cold) and has great acceleration. I'm mainly in London, and on occassion when I get out of town, speed limit + a bit more is plenty, i'm quite keen on keeping my license, and less tempation is probably better.
I also don't 'need' a bike, as I no longer have to use to commute, but i want to have one, basically if i needed one, it would be easier to justify upgrading.
Bikes I was considering was Fazer8, also FZ6 S2, both with ABS.
Have had one ride on the Fazer8, it was better than what i have, (obviously) but didn't make me think wow, i have to have. When i got back on my Fazer, it just felt right.
So, two questions really.
Do I keep my bike?
If I were to sell, what should I move up to?
Apologies if  I've rambled...I need help!!!
