What it tells me is that people in the best bike areas are not stupid enough to get caught in their own patches :)

Go to B&Q buy a big flower pot.  dig out the old bike U lock you lost the keys for. fill the pot with concrete and put the lock in it so only the U part shows.   Did me for 5 years as an anchor.

For Foc-U rideouts
Luton to Ashford to start. Ashford to Brighton for the ride, not direct, Brighton back to Luton (in torrential rain with no waterproofs)(Fazerman did the same rideout from Wales)

For the Fazerman Welsh rideout.  Luton to Stafford, drop the wife off, on to Wales.  Ride-out was about 140-160 miles.  Back to Stafford to get missus then Back to Luton. Bestest rideout ever.

I think there may have been more to it before the clip.

Point is more that many riders believe that they can take a car on and the car will bottle out.  Just a reminder that there are nasty bastids driving cars.

Sometimes you wonder

There are some really nasty people in the world.  I had a bike do this to me a while ago (although not because I was lane hogging), it did really cross my mind at the time as to what would happen if I didn't stop in time.

I have a Viper end can and link pipe going spare. Has removable DB killer and road legal sticker on it.

It has been on the bike but only for one ride, only marks are from the strap where it clamps to the peg but they are covered by the strap

Looking for £70, would prefer if it could be picked up , but can get it posted if required.
Wellingborough area.

« on: 19 July 2013, 07:21:02 pm »
Like someone said tyres differ and profile makes a big difference.

The other point to think about is chicken strips show the limit of your footprint so theres still a way to go before you go off the edge.

But still strips are the mark of your riding, get the sandpaper out LOL.

Its about the risk, what a piss poor argument.

I have ridden in jeans for 30 years, been a London despatch rider, led rideouts and been on rideouts with FOC-U.

I wear what I think I need from a full set of leathers to jeans and demin jacket. I recently tested my friends bike after sorting her clutch in socks lol (hard to change gear, not recommended)

If I put everything in the pot that could kill me I wouldn't even get out of bed let alone ride a motorbike.

Skin grafts me hairy fat arse.  The worst I have had from far too many crashes ( a good way to learn what you cant do, lol) is a burn on my leg where it got trapped under the exhaust in a pothole incident at 60ish.
My mate got killed on his first ride with full leathers and a decent helmet, at 40mph without damaging his gear in any way, simply had his neck snapped when he bounced off a van (not his fault).

The only thing I wouldn't go without at any time is gloves cos hands is the first thing you put down, helmet cos I haven't got enough hair to waste it on the road (and cos jonny law gets quite upset if you don't wear one) and a jacket cos wasps and bees at anything over sixty damn well hurt (goes for helmet as well).

On an aside, go out and do an advanced course you may not be so scared of getting hurt when you know better how to avoid it.

just a note.  In an American drag test many textiles performed only slightly better than budget jeans.  In Australian tests only 10% of the textile jackets performed to an adequate standard.

With the leather gear tested they outperformed all by at least double, but the most expensive suit burst LOL

But even having read this I will wear what I damn well like, when I like, and rely on my riding ability and common sense not to have to use my gear.
If I want to ride in speedos in a snowstorm what the crap has it got to do with anyone cept me.

Nice to meet you again miss Wolf.  Weird we both parked in the wrong car park.  Must be a foc u thing.

Was an excellent day out though, if not a tad hot.

General / Re: what did you do with your fazer today ?
« on: 13 July 2013, 06:48:47 pm »
Took it out on the mad mile, up the back roads to Morcott, on to Uppingham, down  the Uppinham/Market Harborough road and back home.  Then gave it a quick splash of water - only cos wifey was washing her bike and I felt guilty.

General / Re: clutchless gear change
« on: 07 July 2013, 07:30:57 pm »
Changing gear badly with a clutch will screw a gearbox up as quickly as without.  But Mr Yam gave me one so I'll use it in the main.

Buy a Honda they haven't got gear levers anymore rofl

But never, ever go down the gears without a clutch

When your in traffic and you lay your elbow on the tank, its easier to just change up without the clutch (or should that be lazier).
