did you check to see if the choke cable is working. on mine when its cold it needs just a tiny bit of choke. But discovered one cold day after running for a couple of secs it would cut out, the cable had broken

« on: 04 May 2016, 02:28:46 pm »
Hi all, my 98 fazer left me down it just cut out going along the road, all lights working but nothing happens when i push the stater button, as i was nearly home i tried to bumb start it but it wouldnt go,so i pushed it home. i sprayed some wd 40 into ign switch and a few minutes later it starts and running fine again. Was wondering is it much of a job to change the ign switch.
Thanks for any help on this.

put a couple drops of oil in number 3 and do the compression test again. if it is still down it could be valve trouble. if its up it could be ring trouble.

the wiring on my bike gave trouble a couple up near the top of brake pipe mounts. it would make and break and give strange readings. examine the wiring carefully as mine would act up most as i was braking and supension movenment.

the oil light is an oil level light, not oil pressure. mine flashes if the level drops, especially if accelerating hard up an incline. the ligh will fash for a second or two.

I used this cap of a deoderant cap when my ign switch was acting up. I also used some electric contact cleaner. It helps when washing the bike to keep the water and rain out as the bike is left outside at work most days in the rain. Had no problems for a good while.

as said above 3 bolts and a blob of silicone. A lot cheaper than damage to the rad.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: How do you clean the ignition switch / barrel
« on: 29 October 2013, 06:40:44 pm »
You could try electric contact cleaner, had a problem with my ign switch and it worked. There is no alarm on my bike but it was turning over but not firing. Its seems fine now for the last few months.
