Fazer8 / FZ8 / FZ8 Front pads replacement
« on: 06 August 2015, 03:09:35 pm »
hey guys, any tips and hints for front brake pad replacement? I have a FZ8 Fazer ABS
I've tried undoing the two man bolts and sliding the calliper oof the disc but it hits the wheel!
Am i right in assuming, two cilps on the retaining pin come off first, slide the pin out and at the same time then the flexy backplate comes off?
Tyring to find any decent videos on the web is proving impossible.
Is it possible to replace the pads without removeing the calliper?
Any pointer greatly appreciated
A :-)

Fazer8 / FZ8 / Re: Rear Shock for fazer8

Nitron do a rear shock for the Fazer, I've just emailed their customer services department for details:
[size=0pt]The part number is NTBKY06S – Yamaha FZ8 Fazer 06-12 NTR Sport Shock. The price for this shock is £308.00+VAT plus £12.50+VAT UK delivery. We do not fit the shocks to the bike here at Nitron.
The current build time is 4 working days upon order.
You tell them your weight and your pillions weight and they build the perfect shock to your requirements. http://www.bikehps.com/acatalog/Nitron_Shock_Absorbers_for_Yamaha_Motorcycles.html

I've no idea if replacing the shock is a job I can do? but i imagine for a qualified mechanic its probably a 2-3 hour job, so your looking at the best part of £200.

If your looking to sort out the front forks you may want to check out the following links:

I hope this helps those who want a stiffer suspension set up?

Fazer8 / FZ8 / Re: 2013 Fazer8 changes

The 2013 spec looks very interesting, what's the general concensus on adjustable shocks front and rear?
Are they really worth the extra money and once you've set them up to your weight and riding style, how often do you adjust them?
I've been hearing a lot about the shocks on current models being not very good, i test rode a naked FZ8 at the weekend and compared to my old GPZ 500 the shocks and the brakes were absolutly brilliant.
I'd be interested to know what people think?
Should i buy a current Fazer or hold out for a 2013 model?
