I would be carefull with that: if there are no leaks and oil level drops easily....... you know what I mean. It happened to me on another type of Yam (Virago 1100; oil light on&off) and it was ok for a long time untill one day I pushed hard and blew a cylinder. IMHO you should do a compression check

in almost 90.000 miles with my 02 fazer 600 the only inconvenient I had was something like that; but once opened the problem wasnt an over-used cam chain but just a stuck spring on the tensioner.
I doubt I will ever have a bike as reliable, not even my fzs 1000

I have noticed that I have to open the throttle a little to start it when the bike is really hot and came to think that maybe it happens because any gas left around has evaporated......does that sound logical?

I have just seen another make called Shad which seems much cheaper than GIVI or Motech

I wouldnt go for Shad at all. IMHO way inferior quality and look. I have a Givi (E460, built in tail light) but it came with the bike. I did fit the metal rack on top (for tent and sleeping bags) and dont even think to do it the way they tell you to or you can ruin your case! If anybody wants my experience with that (not many, I guess), I will be pleased to help.
Without the case the the monorack looks "quite good" (I know, it always looks shite) on the bike (nor too tall, neither too far back) but I had to take out the back rest because the pillion was pushed forward.

Cheers

Hi Mike

I live in Madrid, and you can apologize to your brain: you havent asked before  ;)
Thank you for answering. It is obvious that both products cant be the same one being almost 8 times more expensive. The problem here is that I was thinking on spending quite more than what the knock off cost but not so much as a pair of Pazzo´s does. Do the chinese look&feel "cheap"? Poor finish and so on?

Cheers

What a view! I want to go now!
As for the levers. I've got ASV normal length ones on mine and I have to admit I love them! They look good and are very comfortable. I've been riding with them for about 20k km... I got them here: http://www.performanceparts-ltd.com/store/uk-YAMAHA-FZ_1__Fazer-10279-2006
Yes, they are a bit pricy but IMO worth the money.

thanks for answering. they look superb but they do are pricey, I will see.
(as for the view, that´s the "col d´aspin" pretty famous amongst tour de france enthusiasts, like me)

thanks again!!!

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Any member tested aftermarket brake&clutch levers?
« on: 13 September 2012, 04:22:52 pm »
Hi everybody
Back in Spain from a trip through southern France. My Gen1 behaved perfectly and Im even more happy with it (if that´s possible). The trip went smooth and incidentless but for my girl dropping the bike while parked (the bike was a little over leaned, and with all the luggage it didnt need much movement to fall). No damages thank to bumpers and saddle bags but a clutch lever broken tip.
So, considering that she is feeling guilty  :evil  I might be able to make her pay for an upgrade: any suggestions? To be honest, I was already thinking about changing them cos my hands are smalish and cant really ride with "two fingers" on the brake as I am used to

Cheers!

No worries,  but just looked at your dates again  be aware that on the 15th August there is a big religeous festival and many over night places will be totally booked up so you may need to plan your route especially carefully around that week (it falls on a Wednesday) also almost all shops will be shut and some of the restaurants too (bizzarely  seeing as people want to eat out that day!) but also note that many villages and towns will have events on which include food so you should not be too far from something edible (!)

havent been around for some days (mainly working and preparing the trip, we leave tomorrow). thanks again for all the advice!

Actually Im a great Architecture fan and the viaduct is something I do want to see. Did you know that the building company and engineers were Spanish? Not chauvinism involved: Im Uruguayan.

I live in Madrid, so Im permanently landed  :)
We will be doing the Pyrenees and the three southernmost regions. Actually your area is as far north as we are planning to get. Have some chosen  balades around Cahors, Rodez and Millau.

Also I came to think that it gets hotter with the full Akra system than when running with the standard one (not that I change it every other day, but have to when having to go through the biannual technical inspection)
