FZS600 Fazer / eratic headlight adjustment?
« on: 06 August 2014, 11:00:54 pm »
my headlight adjustment for main beam seems to be very eratic, i cant seem to move it horizontaly it will only go down and left which is no good as in the middle of the road its about 5 foot infront of me.

ive had the headlight apart and made sure everything is connected properly it is.. ive tried everything :(

As above, can't use the mount, you can keep the 600 torque arm on its no real problem.

quoted me before id retyped the rest :D

i paid £70 posted from rich on here, £50-£80 is a good price to pay but theyre rare!! best bet is to ask here as ebay youll have no chance!! a new one went on ebay for £168! and yes i did bid all the way up to £164 before being beaten at the last second.

trx calipers fit but theyre hard to find and loads more work.

it really is an easy job the filing was an arse but i used a flat file wiith fairly smooth edges but none the less half hour the caliper was on and bled through.

I have this issue too, my old bike, suzuki gsx 600f did the same...

I can have empty tank, put £10 in it will show full, ride it for 10 miles ill have half a tank then a full tank! then itll go down slowly and then fuel light on and off for miles then itll finaly go from 1/4 to FILL UP OMFG!!

or i put £25 fuel in and well it does the same just a bit slower.

I did this to mine as my old caliper was wrecked!!

some filing needs to be done on the old caliper mount, or a lot of filing in my case as my file was almost smooth lol.

got it on eventually and yes its an easy swap! makes a big difference, no binding, no seizing up and better stopping power.

any questions just ask im happy to help.

on the image ive shown where I had to file, it may be different for you...

easiest way is to find your girlfriend, steal her nail varnish (the cheap shit) and plaster it on the caliper then put it onto where it needs to go itll leave the varnish on the caliper mount where you need to file :D

the 3 points on mine i had to file off, the far right i had to file on the mount as you look at it as it sticks out but the other 2 are on the underneath, file the middle upwards and the left towards the bolt hole.

yours may be slightly different.

As for m10 washers, 1 washer between the caliper and the caliper bracket will pull it out and seat it correctly.

they split pretty easily, as above just 2 bolts, personally id be looking for a fzs 1000 caliper now, i cleaned mine and it made hardly any difference.

if yours is completely dead i have a 600 caliper that does work could use a clean has 1 broken bleed nipple but dosent affect use as they have 2.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: "is this tank slapper"?
« on: 28 July 2014, 10:20:52 am »
its a form of tank slapper yes but its a mechanical issue, it will pass an mot as they don't test bikes by riding them no handed, the issue could be one of many thinks, had this on my xj 600, was fine with my hands on the bars but after 30mph hands off my bars went insane! couldn't find what was wrong but after changing my front tyre it was fine but eventually starting coming back but not as bad.

Its probbaly down to your front wheel being off balance, get the wheel off stick the spindle through it and put it on a set of axel stands and spin the wheel, if it wobbles there is your issue.

it is perfectly safe aslong as you hold onto your bars, i rode like it for about 4 months before i fixed it but i didn't set out to fix it.

Fazer 1000 caliper fitment today... spent the morning trying to find the fucking split pin that went walk abouts, turns out it had stuck to a magnet on some scissors :D

anywhoo....
"just a bit of filing they said" .. half hour later it was finaly enough to fit the caliper

2 m10 washers to center the caliper as advised on here...

also..

« on: 27 July 2014, 12:14:37 am »
perfectly safe and fine, as above its just from the heat cycles, ever time you ride a distance let them get hot then cool then hot again they will turn blue, just ride the colour out of them!

A solution for lower and more forward pegs was posted a while ago.  I keep meaning to do it, I bought the metal bar in Feb but it's still sitting in the garage!

http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,10812.msg114573.html#msg114573

i did see this but my metal skills well i wont be a fabricator anytime soon

the pegs are near perfect but a few more cm would be awesome.

FZS600 Fazer / headlight! going to be a deadlight soon
« on: 25 July 2014, 10:47:38 pm »
no matter what i try i cannot get this headlight to adjust properly!!

4 screws, top left, top right, middle left and middle right...

top left moves the left beam down and left or up and right...
top right moves right beam down and left or up and right
middle 2 do nothing...

was adjusting left bulb down and left and it clicked then centred itself now wont do anything... do i need to take them apart? if so will a gas oven work?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Tyre size help please
« on: 24 July 2014, 08:53:11 pm »
rear tyre is the same profile just wider, will make a bigger difference on corners. 60 is the profile/height from rim to bottom of tyre.
going up in profile would do the same as changing sprockets, i always try get 10 more on the profile if i can, have had wider tyres they do feel like they have more grip on corners but that will be down to the width of them, the cornering will be a bit slower but feel smoother

will take new in box £20 or £15 for used. in uk

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Diagnose my starter problem please
« on: 24 July 2014, 03:50:46 pm »
when you go to start it, hit the starter motor with a RUBBER mallet, not metal youll break it and not too hard but a decent wack, if it starts then new motor/brushes needed.

changing or fixing depends on if you can get hold of one for cheap or replace the brushes which it will likely be

brushes: http://yambits.co.uk/fzs600-fazer-starter-motor-brush-p-45752.html

as above, cylindrical item above the gearbox
